What is the principle behind makeup setting spray?

The most essential elements of setting sprays are their film-forming chemicals, which form the basis of their operation. Usually, these sprays contain polymers like PVP or acrylic copolymers. When applied to the face, these polymers create a very thin, translucent, and elastic layer as the water evaporates. This layer acts like an invisible cling film, enveloping the surface of the makeup.

To maximise the effectiveness of setting spray, the key lies in quantity, distance, timing, and technique. Select your spray based on your skin type (oily skin opts for strong-hold formulas, dry skin for hydrating ones) and needs (long-lasting wear requires strong-hold, daily commuting suits balanced or hydrating formulas).

Shake vigorously before use! The active ingredients within, such as film-forming agents and powders (some sprays contain micro-powders), are prone to settling. Failure to shake thoroughly may result in water being sprayed without any setting effect, or the dispensing of large, lumpy particles. After completing all colour makeup (foundation, concealer, loose powder, blush, contour, highlighter, eyeshadow, brows, etc.),After liberally applying setting spray, let it air dry on its own.  In order to create a protective layer that holds all of your makeup in place, this is the most important stage in the makeup setting process.
